School Classes
A classroom is both a community and a culture. We have found that it is essential for a class’ healthy development to leave the school environment from time to time and immerse in an experience that is very different than classroom life. Just as the teacher is the competent leader in the classroom, Synergia staff are the competent leaders in the realm of outdoor experiential education. Please see our Philosophy page for more on different approaches to education and why this is so important.
Synergia has worked with school classes from pre-school through the University level since 1992. From one-day ropes course programs, to 14-day 8th grade trips, to 10 day service projects for high school students, we work closely with teachers to create an experience that will enhance and benefit the entire class, in the greatest possible way. Programs are structured with attention to our four strands: Adventure Challenge, Service Learning, Social Development, and Field Study. The specific curriculum is designed to incorporate other aspects of learning, such as history of place, stewardship, and youth media. A program is designed that is especially suited to the class as a whole and that will result in a class trip that will have relevance to the current needs and studies of the class, as well as serving to strengthen social bonds, leadership and class unity.
Since 1994, Synergia has spent a portion of every spring leading extensive 8th grade trips, mostly for Waldorf schools and charter schools . Without exception, these trips are profound journeys for the students, for the teacher, and for our staff.

High School Programs
Modeled after our Expedition programs, Synergia leads trips for high school students with specific goals in mind. From studying and working with sea turtles in Baja California, to making documentary films and protecting the environment, Synergia supports teachers in getting their students out of the classroom and into the field. Classroom studies are opened up and real life learning brings a relevance and passion to what education can be.
Adult and University programs
Synergia has a strong record in design and implementation of adult and college oriented programs, particularly our Ropes Course program. We have led staff training workshops annually for: UC Davis Summer Advisors; UC Davis Health Educators; UC Davis Campus Violence Prevention Program.
Custom designed programs
In addition to «open enrollment» programs, Synergia offers programs to groups who may not be affiliated with a school or organization. If you are interested in putting together a canoe or backpacking trip for a group of families, for example, we can work with you to create an adventure for your group. Available times are limited, however, so please call to discuss the possibilities.
